The Soul of the Journey: Why Kuda Travel?

There is a specific kind of magic that only happens at ten miles per hour. It’s the speed where the world stops being a blur outside a bus window and starts becoming a conversation. It’s the scent of pine needles in the morning dew, the rhythmic click of a gear shift, and the feeling of the wind—not just hitting you, but carrying you.

For me, this isn’t just a business. It is a life’s work, a family legacy, and a story of survival. People often ask, Why Kuda Travel? The answer isn’t just about bikes; it’s about a promise made to my family and a lifelong obsession with showing people the world through a different lens.

Why Kuda Travel Journey

The Boy Who Never Stopped Pedaling

My journey into the world of tourism didn’t start in a corporate office or a university lecture hall. It started in the dust and sun when I was just 14 years old. While other kids were focused on schoolyard games, I was already enamored with the idea of hospitality. By 2006, I had officially stepped into the world of professional guiding.

For over a decade, the road was my home. I saw the sun rise over ancient ruins and set over bustling metropolitan skylines. I learned that being a guide isn’t just about pointing at landmarks; it’s about storytelling, safety, and cultural translation. I’ve worn out more pairs of cycling shoes than I can count, and in that time, I accumulated a wealth of “road wisdom”—the kind you can’t get from a guidebook.

The Storm Before the Calm

Life has a way of shifting gears when you least expect it. In 2019, two massive waves hit my life simultaneously. First, I became a father. My child was just three months old, and suddenly, the “nomadic” lifestyle of a guide felt impossible. My heart was at home, even if my legs wanted to be on the trail.

The COVID-19 pandemic didn’t just disrupt the travel industry; it decimated it. At the time, my wife had been painstakingly building Kuda Media Co., Ltd. As the world locked down, the media industry froze. For two years, I faced the soul-crushing reality of unemployment. We were on the brink, but I knew I couldn’t let the name “Kuda” disappear.

Overcoming Challenges

What’s in a Name? The Bloom of Kuda

The name Kuda is more than just a brand; it is a love letter. In Japanese, “Kuda” evokes the cherry blossom. This is no coincidence—my wife’s name itself means “Cherry Blossom.”

We dropped “Media” and embraced Travel. Kuda Travel was born from the idea that a cherry blossom represents renewal and the fleeting beauty of life. It reminds us to seize the moment and see the world while it’s in full bloom.

Renewal and Travel

More Than a Tour: The Kuda Philosophy

1. In-Depth Knowledge

Our team isn’t made up of casual enthusiasts. We are professionals who have lived the tourism life since our teens. We know the local shopkeepers, the best hidden coffee spots, and the shortcuts to breathtaking views.

2. The Health of the Soul and Body

Traveling by bike is “active meditation.” In a world that is increasingly digital, Kuda Travel offers a way to reconnect with your physical self.

3. From Suburban Silence to Urban Vibrancy

We show you the transition. From the quiet, natural beauty of the suburbs into the electric, vibrant pulse of the city heart. You see the “veins” of a country that most tourists never know exist.
